What colour is older than the dinosaurs?

FUN FACT: Scientists recently discovered pink pigments in rocks dating over 1 billion years ago. These are molecular fossils of chlorophyll from organisms that inhabited an ancient ocean and thus distinguishes pink as the oldest colour on geological record.
ORIGIN: The etymology of the word pink as a colour remains a bit of a mystery although it is thought to be named after flowers (possibly from the Dianthus genus). By the late 17th century in Europe it was in use to describe the colour.
GREAT USES FOR PINK: Watercolour loves pink. Try using Rose Dore, Rose Madder and Opera Rose (amazing pink tones that you can easily find through Winsor and Newton)! Mix them with blue to create amazing purples or use them softly for petals and skin tones.
